Phosphagenics’ lead active pharmaceutical candidates are APA-01 and GTP-0805.
APA-01 has strong anti-inflammatory properties and therefore has the potential to be effective in a number of diseases with an inflammatory base. Current research and development of APA-01 is targeting the treatment of atherosclerosis. A recent in-vivo 'proof of concept' pre-clinical study demonstrated that the combination of APA-01 and the statin atorvastatin (Lipitor™) significantly reduced serum lipids and inflammatory proteins involved in the development of atherosclerosis.
GTP-0805 is being developed as an anti-cancer agent. In-vivo 'proof of concept' pre-clinical studies have shown a strong synergistic activity in inhibiting breast tumour growth when GTP-0805 was combined with leading breast cancer treatment tamoxifen. |
